Landisc Updater
The Landisc Updater is a command line utility that resides in all of the computers' Windows® directories that Landisc has been installed on. It is used by all of the Landisc applications to maintain version control.
All Landisc applications will look in 3 directories to find the latest revision:
- The default application directory (the application itself)
- C:\CLT\LANDISC\NEWTOWN\UPDATES directory
- The Landisc project's updates directory
A newer revison of the Landisc application can be placed in any of the 3 locations. When the application is launched it immediately looks in all 3 locations and determines which one is the most current.
If the application sees that there is a newer application in one of the other 2 locations, it will tell the Landisc Updater. At that time the Landisc Updater will execute and the Landisc application that invokes it will terminate. Then the Landisc Updater updates the application in the default application directory. After the Landisc application is updated, the Landisc Updater will relaunch the Landisc application and then terminate itself. Determining on your network speed, you may or may not see the Updating window as it is updating the Landisc application.
If the application sees that either of the other 2 locations has an older revision it will then overwrite the older application(s) with the new one.
